We say we want to be happy

but when we finally feel it, we find it difficult

to accept it as reality and fear that we are missing out

on something that will make us happier. Like a foot on an open

door, we cling to the familiar doubts

that won’t budge and keeps us from embracing

the possibility of becoming genuinely happy.

We find it hard to let go of chances, as if

they are the key to life’s mysteries.

Without realizing that the determination to stick with a choice

from among the myriads of options is the key

to living happily.

Ever after.
